Music Time

3 08 2017

This is one in a series of Haiku battles between myself and a dear Lady Cheryl DeWolfe, who blogs at Flotsam and Jetsam. These collaborations are all very erotic and were written in real-time exchanges with no outline nor discussion of the content before each began.

Note: no bytes were killed in the writing of these, thou some of them may be scarred for life Read the rest of this entry »

Some things are worth sharing everywhere

10 12 2014

I am not a big fan of hearing an electronic beep going off whenever something passes by a scanner, or a cell phone rings, or, or, or…. In the modern world, it seems that no matter where you are, there is always something that is ready to make an electronic beep – it is almost enough to drive you mad (assuming you are not already there)

All that being said, every once in a while, artists get together to made a meaningful contribution to society with whatever media happens to be available

Take me seriously, I am an artist

Justin Bieber, the latest in a long line of self important brats. He is the media flavor du jour, the dream boat of the tweens and swiftly becoming another embarassment.

In his latest rant he claims to be an artist and demands that people respect him as such

And I was like
Baby, baby, baby ooh
Like baby, baby, baby noo
Like baby, baby, baby ooh
Thought you’d always be mine, mine

Baby, baby, baby oohh
Like baby, baby, baby noo
Like baby, baby, baby ohh
Thought you’d always be mine, mine

It took 5 people to write this song. Only God knows how many people were required to mix it, add specail effects to the music, tweek every last tone to make it sound pleasing, make the music so “perfect” that you no longer actually believe he is actually singing it. Does he sing it, or is it Auto Tune you are listening to? Who or what is it that you are listening to?

Back in the good old days – okay, so I am close to 50 and believe that decent music died out in the 90’s, music had life to it. When Chuck Berry, or Elvis, or Styx, or Kiss, or Tina Turner came out on stage, it was them who did the work and it was them who made it happen – not a small army of sound engineers, and producers, and image consultants.

You think you are an artist Bierber? When you stand on stage  beside Tina Turner for 3 minutes, without your entourage, you can think that maybe you have some promise. Seriously Bieber, you are just another little twerp who won’t be remembered 5 minutes after you are no longer a pretty little boy
